Ithaki – Ithaca

We left at first light from Galaxidhi. The morning was quiet with clouds sitting long and low over the water.
We had 3 options depending on what the day turned up.
First option was to get to Trizonea about 15 miles up the coast.
Second option if the ‘going’ was ok was to get to Mesalonghi and third option get all the way to Ithaki 80 miles and 13 hours or so.
The day got better and better and we decided to keep going and get out to the islands.
We are in Vathi, a small town right in the middle of the island.
Sitting on the sidewalk it’s a comedy of locals and scooters hooning in that understated laid back way!

Was Penelope at home? Any signs of Odysseus?

Sounds like great re-reading of classic Greek stories and myths …

No mentioning of food? Wine – OK or not?

    Ya,
    Mario

    • Food and wine are great. The half liter of house red at 2 euros is good value.
The Ionian islands are really good with lots of interesting bays towns and islands to get to. All are in view.
We met an American couple who had sailed over from Sicily so we got some info on marinas there etc and an English couple who heading to Trieste to make that their home base. How are your plans for purchasing coming along?
