We sailed from Ciutadella, Menorca to Alcudia on Mallorca. Alcudia has a large protected bay on the Eastern end of the island and is wrapped by huge mountains. The road to Palma goes straight through the valley and is about 1 hour. We are going to hire a car and will be dropping Chris at the airport for his flight back to the UK.
As we sailed in I saw an amazing house right out on the end of the point. On further google inspection it turns out to be a private art gallery and grounds. We will go.

Can Lis – this is or was the house of Jorn Utzon. It is now run by the Utzon Foundation and on a Friday in summer you can visit. Utzon left Australia in 1966 after relations broke down and he never saw the Opera House finished. He came to Mallorca and in 1972 built this beautiful house and studio. It’s a stunning space, so simple with an ever changing view and cliff top position.

On to Port Soller. We sailed around on to the northern coast of Mallorca. It is mostly cliff with a couple of opportunities of safe haven. Definitely needs weather attention and not to be here in a northerly storm. The gods are being kind to us and we have a kind of mill pond day to make it all the more stupendous.

We are making our way into Palma now. I am going to fly to the UK for 5 days with my 94 year old Aunt Christine.

I flew to Teeside Airport which is a 10 minute taxi ride to her house and we had a fun 5 days tootling around the countryside.

While I was in the UK Rog had 5 days in Calanova Marina near Palma. 5 days to clear out the rope locker, rearrange his tools – and discover Palma. He’s had fun at art galleries, Gaudi buildings, markets, bars and generally enjoying this city.

We have 1 more day here before the wind takes us to Barcelona. The decision is to come back here next year. Palma is a very lively, vibey city that is still very much itself. We have thoroughly enjoyed being here.
You have really got us excited for our visit in September.
Brenda you guys will have an amazing time – talk to you soon. Xx
