We quietly sailed our way down the east coast marvelling at the enormity of the cliffs. Slab faced huge granite and limestone cliffs with turquoise water close to the edge. It’s possible to anchor here and swim if the weather is right and it was

We spent 3 days in port in Cagliari firstly because the weather deteriorated as we headed south and what had been pleasant became very unpleasant with strong winds, big swell and rain, thunder and lightning.
While we were there we were able to get a technician to look at our AIS which up to that point had not been working. He found the lead and plugged it it! Simple- thank goodness. We are now ‘live’ on Marine Traffic and Vessel Finder and you can search Marley (AUS) and you will see where we are.
Secondly we are here to pick up my cousin Christopher- he will help us do the crossing to Spain. We anticipate about 30 hours and Saturday we will leave Carloforte early.

It is a very unusual feeling sailing in the dark. As it turned out there was no moon. Venus showed our path for a couple of hours and then dipped below the horizon only to reappear behind us by 4am. You do lose perception of the space you are in and can feel quite unbalanced. Plus one’s imagination can go crazy – monsters of the deep appearing beside you – that sort of thing!

It has taken us a couple of days to recover from lack of sleep and the constant movement and we have enjoyed Mahon.

You guys are legends!! 💓

Hi Jane, You really are getting brave! At least it was calm. Where are you likely to be between July 26- August 1st? We are visiting Barcelona around that time and if you are nearby, we would pop past for lunch! xx Andrew
