We have arrived at the north western tip of Sardegna and passed through the channel into the most pristine turquoise water of La Pelosa. The channel separates the main island from Asinara which is a Park Reserve and the island where the Albino donkey lives.

Not only Albino but also brown, grey and one black donkey live on the island. Pigs, goats and some horses too the donkeys keep separate areas and never cross territories. And there are 3 spring water lakes that provide water as 10mm a year rainfall means for an arid, granite landscape. Very beautiful.

The island has a varied history with most recently a high security prison. All are empty now and falling apart. The choice is to let them disappear. While there are some who say they should be renovated, restored, resorts, accommodation- the choice to keep the divine nature of this place seems a good one.

Heaven!!! And so interesting!! Xxx
Absolutely beautiful place. Definitely one to go back to! Xx
You’ve left the world and all its busyness and noisyness behind, how soothing and restorative for you both. Xx
