The Sorrentine Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast

The view from Monte Faiti- we took the cable car and walked to the Belvedere to see the Cape of the Sorrentine peninsula

We have had a change of crew. Georgi and Alastair headed by train to Venice and Stephanie and Pete have come on board. They will be with us for the coming weeks as we head south.

Stephanie and Pete are old friends and also our original boat partners when we had Pankina. They are very experienced sailors and love life on board.

Stephanie and Pete – Positano

We restocked, washed, laundered and left Castelmmare di Stabia to head out and around the Sorrentine Peninsula.

The weather is still and we have to motor – the upside of that is we can anchor anywhere and take a swim and be safe and enjoy. Otherwise the swell, the wind can challenge this coastline

From Castelmmare di Stabia to Massa Lubrense- Nerano to Positano

In Nerano we anchored under Massa Lubrense. When we arrived we were part of a large group anchored and by the end of the day we were alone. We got the dinghy in the water and headed in shore for a look around.

Every village at some point in the year and quite possibly several times a year celebrate the Madonna or the Blessing of the fleet and today was Nerano’s Blessing day. The first in 3 years and hundreds of locals have arrived to get on ferries and head into the bay to Bless the Fleet and Sant’Antonio is on board too

Positano

Next stop Positano. We are going to stay the night. Anchoring is mooring buoy and water taxis to take you in shore.

The Walk of the Gods – mountain peak trail staying in Rifugios along the way

Having travelled along this coastline now a couple of things to note :

Stay in Ravello – beautiful- a little quieter and more open . Positano is too busy.

Charter boat companies like Dream Yacht Charter have catamarans, they can provide skipper and crew and can be a way of seeing many places without having to unpack and repack. The boats are new and have loads of accomodation- very comfortable.
