Sardegna

Finally the sails are fitted – it’s late Thursday evening – it took so much longer than expected and our departure time is 6 am.

The winds are north easterly and we expect to be in Golfo Aranci by midnight.

Smooth sailing with only slight anxiety as 3 vessels – us snd two big ships – all seemed to be within collision point! Unbelievably with all this space that 3 should be this close. And they go so fast. We have to get out of the way – fast! We anchored at 10.30pm and headed to bed.

San Teodoro – Cala Girgolu – beautiful Sandy bay with these round flat stones – granite. They are all around this part of the coast.
Isola Tavolara

We have brought a drone with us this time. Roger found that the parameters for flying it are very strict especially here where there is Public Soace, Private Residences and Military Installation 😂😂 then when the Guardia arrived he got paranoid that he had ‘pinged’ an alert but no it was all ok.

Isola Tavolara – there are a couple of cafes on the beach and a few houses. Day trippers love to come out here for the clear water and Sandy beaches.
We spent a couple of days in Olbia – domestic time, cleaning, re provisioning. They are gearing up for a Moto GP here next weekend and many people are flooding in. The weather is lovely and mild.
Street plantings – the landscaping or street scaling I should say is really beautiful.
Weeds from the sidewalks 😀
Corsica is so close to Sardegna so we sailed into Bonifacio for the day. Not as busy as we have known it but still as spectacular.
It’s quite a walk// climb from the quay to the top. Cafes with their tables on the door. Nothing puts them off.
Busy streets, people shopping, eating – baguettes, ice creams – it’s all irresistible

We sailed back to Palau in the end of day and anchored in a bay – Cala Lungha. Only 1 other boat here. The sea is like glass – no wind. Makes for a peaceful night.

Cala Lungha – the Maddalenas
