The flight was easy, albeit full, and landing in Rome was quiet and very quick. We rented a small car – my favourite Fiat Panda – a hybrid no less.
On to the Blue Dolphin to see the boat. It is 3pm and we are sleeping on board tonight. Domenico has her ready to be put in the water and the rigger and mechanic arrive to talk about what work they have done for Marley to be ready. Eventually she is in the water and we are on board and although it is quite messy we can clear our cabin, make the bed and get to sleep.

Thursday morning early we are back at the airport and getting on the train. We are heading to Venice for the Biennale Vernissage – on the fast train and it is fast. 300kmh – very comfortable indeed.
We had 3 fun days at the Biennale before we headed back to the Blue Dolphin.

There has been huge storms and rain across the North and down to Rome. It has slowed everything down, created chaos and much damage has been done. Travellers are wandering around trying to reorganise their plans. Some trains are cancelled and the next week all trains are to be cancelled in this region and replaced by bus. Somehow we have managed to slip through the chaos and get back to Rome. But we are held up. The rain has prevented the sailmaker bringing the sails and the earliest is Thursday! We are definitely on Italian time now and getting a little impatient.
