Favignana

The Grand Harbour and the Florio Villa on Favignana

Favignana is one of the Egadi Islands – Levanzo and Marretemo being the other 2. Favignana is the closest to Trapani and is a butterfly shaped island with long low wings and a high mid section with a Castle on top

We first visited Favignana in 2017 and it is a favourite. Beaches, bays, rocks, the village – they all make for a fun and relaxing time.

We hired electric bikes – there are bikes everywhere- for those of you who know Rottnest off the Perth coast – it is so much the same just Sicilian!

The long low rocky edge makes for great Beach Bars. Such clean green/ blue water with the limestone base.
A family beach in the Grand Harbour. White sand!
We are anchored in the harbour with the Florio Tonnara on the shore.
Life on board is simple
And easy
Cleaning is quick! 😄

We took a visit up to Erice – a mountain town that sits behind Trapani. It is a walled Norman town with the Castello da Venus at the top. Another Unesco site and a centre for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Students from around the world come to study here.

A storm brewing while we were in Erice. Welcome gusts of cold air put us in fog in seconds. So nice to be cold. We are 3,000 m above sea level and came up by chair lift. Going down is by car this time.

Stephanie and Pete are leaving us now to head back home to Australia. We have had a fun time and their company will be missed.
