Scopello and Favignana

We headed back into Castelmmare del Golfo to drop off Christopher and pick up Alex.

A day of wild weather saw us stay in the marina and do housework or boat work.

Scrubbed, washed and polished – it’s a satisfying task with an equally satisfying end result.

Days sailing and swimming cover the boat with salt water- and it is so salty. Crystals form and then they attract moisture , in the end you feel as if nothing is quite dry. Time then to wash down, shake out and start again.

After our wild weather day and Alex on board we headed up the Gulf to Scopello.

A very pretty place with a couple of great anchorages. The prime spot is in front of the old Tonnara – tuna factory – now a museum site.

These rock pillars stand around the bay so the fish life is incredible. Mask, snorkel and flippers a must.

Back on Favignana we have anchored in the harbour. It’s very protected, the water is beautiful and we can swim off the back of the boat. We use the dinghy to go onshore.

Roger had his day when we hired a 5.5m rubber ducky with centre console. With this we can go fast, anchor in close and circumnavigate the island. Needless to say it was difficult for Rog to give it back.
