Friday 22 June and we have arrived at Catania Airport via Singapore and Istanbul. We only had one slightly hairy moment at Istanbul where it seemed as though we may miss our connecting flight but after locating extra International Transfer gates we were fine.
Catania – 24 degrees and the bus to Marina Di Ragusa is leaving in 40 minutes. It takes 1 1/2 hours and costs 8 Euros.

Bend the knees for that case! Our only case!
We were not sure what condition the boat would be in as requests to the Marina for feedback had gone unanswered.
But there she was, a little bit dusty and sandy courtesy of Africa but otherwise in great shape.
We set to and washed and polished until tiredness overcame us and we headed into town for dinner. Town is a 400 metre stroll along the Corso and it is a vibrant place, full already it seems although quite a few businesses are still to open and holiday houses still shuttered.

The beach here is long and the water quite shallow. This is relatively quiet, the next day was Sunday and it was packed with loads of games going on.
So in our preparations to leave Port we needed our new sails to be fitted – done, a gas bottle refill – done, 2 new ‘house’ batteries – done, and get the dinghy out of storage- done.
Amazingly on Monday largely thanks to a rental car all these things were achieved.
And now Tuesday 26 June we are heading up the south coast. First stop Agrigento. We have left at dawn and here is the view.

And to start the day – coffee!

Capitano Raj at the helm.
