Yesterday we sailed down from Kortula to the island of Mljet. A storm was brewing and the sky turned metal grey.
We needed a safe anchor with protection from the southerly and the little bay at Mljet was perfect. A taverna provided a mooring and we sat on the terrace for dinner and watched the lightening and thunder. It poured down – torrential rain for about an hour. Luckily we had closed all the hatches – this time.It has cooled things down significantly today, Saturday, but if the sun comes out it’s like we are in a steam room.
We have parked in the ACI Marina in Dubrovnik and come into the old town.
Us and at least 20,000 people off the 4 cruise ships. It’s pretty awful really. Too many people and everyone trolling around following flags. We have obviously arrived at the same time as the boat groups.
We walked through the old town, avoided walking around the wall due to major traffic jams and then spotted the cable car going up the hill. We hotfooted it up there to find it closed due to high winds so we took a taxi ride – death defying at times – up to the top to get a better view. Much nicer away from all those bods. Then having safely been delivered to the bottom again and relieved of large amounts of cash we went back in to the old town and it was much better. Cruise ships all gone and space to walk around.
