Francis and Laurie are leaving us here and flying to Melbourne and London. Needless to say they are reluctant to leave. This has been their first experience on a yacht and it has had some highlights.
Both had significant falls out of the dinghy which in the first instance caused alarm and secondly much laughter. Laurie managed to impale his shoulder on a sea urchin and ended up with a pin cushion effect. Off to the pharmacy again for more cream – black cream, to draw them out. Francis’ bruise was dispersing nicely and causing no problem. Roger’s cold is diminishing and we are down to pharmacy every second day now.
We have checked into the ACI Marina in Split for a couple of days and Richard and Brenda arrive from NZ.
Split is an amazing city. The Palace of Diocletian sits centre front on the water and is bustling with people, shops, concerts and art. This is the last weekend before school resumes so there are people everywhere. I is still quite warm. Around 34 degrees and only in the last 10 days has it come down from the 40’s. They say this has been a real summer for them.

Hi guys, the only reason I can still bear reading your blogs is because we are leaving in 4 days! We hope nice weather lasts a few weeks more at least …
BTW – Grgur (Ninski – meaning born in the nearby town Nin) was a bishop and chancellor of the local despot in 10th century AD, remembered in Croatian history because he was the first language and alphabet reformer, trying to introduce the new alphabet Glagoljica and Croatian language into liturgy and clerical books (without success) The statue was made by the greatest Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic.
Nice winds!!!
Thank you Mario. You are a constant source of knowledge. Have s great time in Italy and yes the weather is set to continue for the next 7 days or so. Check out WINDYTY website for great wind patters all around the work and predictions too. Jx
