Flying Melbourne to Dubai, Dubai to Venice, Venice to Dubrovnik – we were then met by a driver who took us to the boat. Flying into Dubrovnik is easy, there are lots of charter flights that service the summer tourist and from Venice it is a 80 minute flight. On a Bombardier – 20 seats and twin props. It is a very immediate sense of flying – the views are great especially as you leave Venice and then as you fly down the Croatian coastline. So many islands, loads of boats.
We were tired but once on the boat and a good nights sleep, that tiredness disappears.
Francis and Laurie are sailing with us for the next week. We will drop them off in Split – 120nm north of Montenegro.
First night – Rose
Fishermen returning and the gulls are waiting
When we woke the next morning there was a huge storm brewing. It was very early but we were definitely in the quiet before the storm so we decided to hot foot it it and up to Cavtat where we needed to check in and clear customs for Croatia.
A gorgeous town close to Dubrovnik. We had a wander around, coffee, provisions – we needed sausage!
And then we sailed north to the island of Mljet
Fish baskets
The weather is beautiful, the water very warm – we are having a great time.
