Bay of Kotor, Montenegro

We have made our way deep into the Bay of Kotor. It is a huge expanse of water surrounded by high mountains. The sheer scale is hard to convey.

The villages dotted around the edge just hang on and a narrow road wends its way. Driving – or being driven is a little hair raising at times.

Venetian settlement – villas and churches although Montenegrins are mostly strict Christian Orthodox.

The map of the walled old town of Kotor. To the top of the hill – the Church – Our Lady of Health – too true after that climb – 1,000 metres

The view from the top

Island of the Dead – a cemetery in the bay

The photos below – Pracanj where we are anchored. Funny dropping the anchor – it occurred to me we could land on a mine. The bay is littered with them apparently. Dolphins were flown in from the USA to locate them and obviously they must be in deep water and no threat – yes?

Plenty of old villas for sale if you are interested. Ripe for renovation.
