Vernazza to Verona

We have spent 3 days on the Cinque Terre at Vernazza. Luckily for us we had beautiful weather which let us walk and swim and be in the sun.
Australian accents everywhere, we kept feeling as if we would bump into friends.
Sunday we planned to walk and luckily for Roger we discovered that a few of the paths were closed. In October 2011 severe weather caused huge flooding and landslides. Vernazza was almost buried under mud and Manarola too. Several of the coastal paths have been closed since and the restoration work is being done but access is tricky.
Never mind we walked the Volastra to Corniglia section. It’s a narrow goat track threaded between the vines. Some very steep ascents and descents that pushed everyone’s knees to the limit.
We made good use of our train passes and jumped on and off trains and shuttle buses and visited all the towns.
Afternoons were spent swimming off the quay along with the local kids and guys with go pros on selfie sticks. The selfie stick is out of control!
