The Venetian influence is apparent in the buildings and lane ways of this town. Also no cars – only donkeys or mules.
Idhra was famous as a port with a large fleet of ships in the early 1800’s.
Now it’s claim to fame is ‘Leonard Cohen has a villa here’.
Day trippers have arrived by the ferry load and spilled into the shops and cafes.
Last night we took a walk around the point. There are paths along the island’s edge with bathing ledges and ladders into the water.
The sunset was gorgeous and I warn you there are lots if photos of it.
There are 365 churches in this village! Apparently it holds the record although it is hotly contested by other places.
