We flew up to Istanbul this morning. Having scrubbed down and polished up the boat – she is all locked up and safely stowed in Marmaris.
Now we have a couple of days here in Istanbul.
We spent a few days here 8 years ago and found it to be interesting and exciting. Such history and a new way that is vibrant.
We are staying in Beyoglu which is an old area down on the water looking back at the Blue Mosque and the Aya Sofya on the Golden Horn.
Ramadan started yesterday and the city is packed with people.
We have just caught up with Tom before he flies back to Melbourne. We took the tram over to Sultanahmet. Trams like Melbourne, super stops too – all very efficient.
Then we walked back and came through the music district. Musicians and music everywhere – its like a giant party is going on. Drummers, guitarists, and so many shops where masters make their instruments. The whole area is delightful.
