This morning customs and immigration watched us depart Turkey – Kas – and we have come 3km across the bay to Greece. Customs are supposed to come and clear us in but no one seems interested.
Aussie accents abound here. And so far we have only walked around the front of the bay. 90% Australian at this stage.
This island was bombed by the Germans in 1943 and most of the buildings were destroyed. The residents were shipped to Alexandria for safety and then offered passage to Australia.
Consequently many of the Greek community in Perth originated here and still return.
It is gorgeous – a sleepy and simple place.
Clouds and a red sky this morning do I looked up the local weather.
Low of 24 and high of 35 that “feels like ” 41. They quote the actual temp and what it feels like. Very funny.
So we spend a lot of time getting wet!
